INVERCLYDE LIBRARIES - WATT LIBRARY

The Watt Library holds the official records of the Fifth District of the County of Renfrew, and records of the former burghs which are now within Inverclyde. The Library’s holdings have been partially surveyed by the National Register of Archives for Scotland (survey number NRAS544) This mainly covers the Greenock Library Autograph Collection (19th Century) and Letters and Autographs (c.1790 – 20th Century).

MAPS AND PLANS
The library also holds a collection of maps and plans for the area including Greenock, Port Glasgow, Gourock, Kilmacolm, Inverkip and Wemyss Bay. These include Ordnance Survey maps, railway and harbour plans, and improvement order plans.
 
The Watt Library, 9 Union Street, Greenock PA16 9JH, is the depository for records which are accepted as gifts or deposits and are available subject to conditions.
