ABERDEEN MARITIME MUSEUM.
LLOYD’S REGISTER OF SHIPPING LIBRARY


Lloyd’s Register of Shipping Library includes in its collection some archival material relating to Aberdeen shipbuilding.
  Covering dates

Records, plans and photographs of Hall Russell shipyard
(most material is from the 1940s or later)

1868-1992

Records and plans of John Lewis shipyard
(most material is from the 1950s or earlier)

1917-1972

Lists of vessels built at other Aberdeen shipyards

Papers relating to John Cook & Son, shipping agents
(not a full set but various papers/volumes)

1850s-1960s
 
The museum’s library also has photographs showing maritime industries in Aberdeen such as fish processing.
   
According to a survey in the National Register of Archives for Scotland only (reference NRAS1893), the Museum also the records of Ronald Caie: a collection of mid 19th century poems composed at sea by John and George Caie, Torry, Aberdeen.

The Library is open Monday to Friday, by prior arrangement only, at Aberdeen Maritime Museum, Shiprow, Aberdeen AB11 5BY.
