SCOTTISH MARITIME MUSEUM

The Scottish Maritime Museum is based partly at the Laird Forge Buildings in Irvine and partly at the Denny Ship Model Experiment Tank in Dumbarton. Archive material for the Denny Ship Model Experiment Tank in Dumbarton, as well as the Museum in Irvine, is centrally administered at Laird Forge Buildings, Irvine.

Archive of Denny Ship Model Experiment Tank
(tank test records, trial books, correspondence)

1882-1960s
The National Register of Archives for Scotland holds two surveys of records in the museum, both carried out by the Business Archives Council for Scotland (survey numbers NRAS3481and NRAS3605). NRAS3481 covers the records of the Ayrshire Dockyard Co Ltd and NRAS3605 covers the records of the Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve Club (Scotland).
 
The records are housed in either the Scottish Maritime Museum, Laird Forge Buildings, Gottries Road, Irvine KA12 8QE or Denny Ship Model Experiment Tank, Castle Street, Dumbarton G82 1QS but all enquiries should be addressed to Irvine in the first instance.
